About
Hello, we’re Magmug, a digital magazine focusing on music made in Asia and we pride ourselves as being the only magazine that is dedicated solely to the scene.
Ambitious, overtly passionate, revolutionary or just plain insane? We don’t really care. Courtesy of the lack of music coverage for all things Asian, we’ve decided to get out of the sidelines and take Asian music matters into our own little hands.
It could be in a form of a vocal individual, a DIY print magazine or a simple email. But we’ve decided to take technology (reads: website) by the balls so that we’ll be able to share our love for music in Asia all over the damn place.
Founded
Founded in Singapore in mid 2007, Magmug first foray into championing the Asian music scene was through a humble bi-monthly HTML version of a magazine. After running 3 issues, Magmug revamped itself in September 2008 to this nicer looking website.
Dumbfounded
Produced by a team of contributors (calling themselves: The Magmongers) from around Asia, Magmug is distinctive in its look, voice and attitude - ugly, loud and bad. Good cheese comes with the worst smell.
Unfounded
Magmug aims to be a respected source for music made in Asia. Though at times we may take things a little lightly and allow ourselves a few laughs along the way, only speaks of what we want music in Asia to be: human and not industrial.
Promoting exchanges of Asian values, not name cards.
And maybe one day music made in Asia could be widely accepted, respected and supported; in any race, nationality, languages or beliefs.
Like OMG! That was sh-sh-shamexy!
