Exclusive: “Fairytale, An Unlikely Story” The Sallys
[Singapore, Singapore] Exclusive to Magmug magazine, the 10 track debut album from melodic ska outfit The Sallys, entitled “Fairytale, An Unlikely Story”. Listen to all of the tracks here, inclusive of a hidden bonus track. The Sallys will be launching their album on 28th to 30th November at Esplanade in conjunction with Even Ruder. The event will showcase some top-notch bands from Singapore.

Fairytale, An Unlikely Story
Off the title of their album, the track opens to bobbing horns and uplifting-teething riffs. A great introduction to the sounds of The Sallys.
Goodbye The Ashtray Girl
The ending horn ensemble proves influences by the Sgt. Pepper-ish days of the Beatles. A happy-dance routine is highly recommended.
The Beautiful Things
Laid back 70’s radio opening should be played on repeat when sipping tea by the estate. Memories of the colorful 80’s twist and shout days is inevitable.
Latina Swing
Remember the TV series Love Boat? This track played on the background of a cruise to nowhere, should be apt for half nude people drinking champagne and throwing rainbow colored plastic balls at each other.
Viana
In search of that girl of your dreams? Her name might be Viana. She grows on you, like this track does.
Lady Marmalade
A track that’s on heavy rotation in local radios and the media.
Lady Marmalade (Acoustic)
Lounge version of the original track cut through the core and stripped to its bare-essentials.
My Love (Acoustic)
If this track was in Korean, it would have totally made it to one of them sappy-love-lost type TV series.
Jelita
Power ska melodic riffs and soothing horns backed by a very Indonesian sounding vocal.
[Hidden Bonus Track]
A vintage made in Indonesia track, remade respectfully and complimented by a very surprising ending.
Only 500 copies of The Sallys “Fairytale, An Unlikely Story” is available. CDs will be sold at the event, Even Ruder at Esplanade from the 28th to 30th November at SG$16.
Catch out our coverage of the event, Even Ruder in the next few days and an interview with The Sallys next week!
